Using Python In Excel Course

People who are familiar with Excel, know at least the basics of Python and who want to use Python in Excel to good advantage.

Learning Objectives

Python is now generally available in the current version of Excel 365 for work/school accounts. We can now use Python where once we had to resort to VBA.

Python in Excel has many uses

• creating good and effective visualisations, rather than using the charting dialogs in Excel
• cleaning and shaping our data
• doing certain calculations that are hard or impossible using Excel’s formula language

This course demonstrates and explains many of these new capabilities, always with a practical perspective on how we can take advantage of them. It also describes when to use Python and when it is still better to use Excel’s formula language or Power Query.

This course is most useful to Excel users who know the basics of Python. If the course sounds interesting, but you don’t yet know any Python then the Python foundation course is a useful preliminary course.

Pre-requisites

Completion of the Excel foundation and Python foundation courses or equivalent.
