This is an online overview session of the full day training on data modelling in Power BI on 27th April 2026 for those who cannot make it in person. It is a follow-on from the session the previous week on how to set up Power BI for Modern Data Modelling with AI help. This session assumes that the software environment, including Power BI Desktop, VS Code, Power BI MCP Server, Claude Desktop app, has been set up.
Data Modelling is the core skill needed to build good, correct Power BI reports. AI agents are game changers that really can help us with our data modelling challenges. We will
- build a star schema data model (dimension, fact, date tables, based on the star schema pattern) from scratch in Power BI Desktop
- review our model. How can we improve it?
- use an Agentic AI and the Power BI Model Context Protocol (MCP) to directly improve our model, for example add tables, columns, measures, formats, relationships, hierarchies.
