Power BI Advanced Course
Who should attend
People who are familiar and comfortable with the essentials of Power BI (building visualisations, shaping data in the query editor, using the model view for example to create hierarchies) and who want to get to grips with writing DAX measures well.
Learning Objectives
Attendees will be able to write DAX to solve data modelling and calculation challenges in Power BI, and to build a standard star schema data model.
Course Content
This is an advanced course covering advanced Power Query and data modelling techniques and DAX. Attendees will:
- perform advanced transformations in Power Query: unpivot data, choose rows and columns, split columns, merge and append queries
- build a star schema data model from several tables. This course covers much of the content of the data modelling course
- write DAX and test measures in the DAX query view. This course covers much of the content of the DAX course.
Course Length
1 day (short version) or 2 days (preferred, full version)
Pre-requisites
Good familiarity with Power BI, for example by having attended both the foundation and intermediate courses.
